The negative feedback control of thyroxine is the most famous concept. The hormones plays crucial role by controlling the internal body temperature. A feedback mechanism is responsible to stimulate or inhibit the hormonal secretion. This loop is usually the negative feedback mechanism among most of the hormones.
The feedback mechanism (Control of thyroxine secretion )
- TRH (Thyrotrope releasing hormone) secreted from the hypothalamus and stimulates the secretion of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) from anterior pituitary (Adenohypophysis).
- TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) secreted from the anterior pituitary (Adenohypophysis) gland stimulates the secretion of thyroxine (T4) from thyroid gland.
- But more T4 level in blood causes low secretion of TSH from anterior pituitary gland and less secretion of TRH as well from hypothalamus which reduces the secretion of T4 from thyroid gland and TSH secretion respectively.
